The mission of the North Whidbey Middle School Library is to help create a community of readers and help students become effective users and producers of information.
Today’s student lives and learns in a world that has been radically altered by the availability of vast stores of information in a variety of formats. Students routinely encounter information in formats as simple as the picture book or as complex as the multimedia package, and as diverse as the literary classic and the personal webpage. With that in mind we want each student to learn to:

- Enjoy reading literature of all kinds.
- Locate print and electronic information independently and strategically.
- Be discriminate media consumers.
- Think critically about Information gathered.
- Apply information to learning tasks and real world problems.
- Use information ethically.
